Unit discounts can now be set as gross amounts

Update January 7, 2026

We’ve introduced a subtle but useful enhancement to invoice handling in Elorus: users can now express a unit discount as a gross amount on invoice lines when using the “Total” calculator mode. This mode assumes that all amounts entered already include taxes.

If no gross discount is explicitly defined, Elorus will continue to calculate it automatically, ensuring the totals remain accurate and consistent with your input.

To further align invoice presentation with user expectations, the invoice PDF has also been improved. When both the “Unit total” column (which reflects tax-inclusive pricing) and the discount column are enabled - and the discount is set to appear as an amount rather than a percentage - Elorus will now display the gross discount value. This intelligent adjustment ensures the discount shown matches the tax-inclusive figures in the “Unit total” column, providing clearer information for your clients.

This enhancement is particularly helpful for retail and consumer-facing businesses, where prices and discounts are typically communicated as final, tax-included amounts.
